  • This will be my tenth year of teaching in the Hopkins County School District. I am so glad to be part of "Team Hopkins" and excited about the upcoming school year!

I direct two Choirs at MNHHS; Concert Choir (open to all grades 9-12 North students) and the Chamber Singers (an auditioned choir for students in grades 10 - 12). Though the choirs are constantly performing throughout the year I will highlight two main events. In December, 2017, the Chamber Choir will be traveling the country music capital of Nashville, TN performing in their televised Christmas Parade Concert. In the spring of 2016, the Chamber Choir traveled to Branson, MO and competed in the Directors Choice Music Competition. The choir received a "Superior" rating  and trophyfrom three college choral professors .  The Choir also received the "Best of Class" trophy in Class 5.  In 2018, the Chamber Choir plans to travel to New York City to perform in a Mass Choir at Carnegie Hall which includes a spotlight performance by the choir on the Isaac Stern Stage.

This will be the third year for the Chamber Choir Booster Club. All parents of Chamber Singers are automatic members of this organization.  Following is the 2017-18 Executive Counsel and all questions, concerns, and ideas should be directed to them

    • President: Sarah Curtis
    • Vice President: Allison Goodman
    • Treasurer: Jennifer Wilhite
    • Secretary: Cara Holley

The Chamber Booster Club meeting for August TBA.  All Chamber Singers & parents make sure you are signed up for the MNHHS Chamber Choir Facebook (FB) page which will be used to pass on information and celebration of accomplishments. There is also a FB page (MNHHS Concert Choir) for students and parents in Concert Choir. There are very few Concert Choir students or parents signed up for this page which is closed to the public.  Remind is another form of communication used to communicate dates and pertinent information to students and parents.

At JMMS, I teach sixth grade Music in Education (M.I.E.) -the piano lab where students learn about music via the piano keyboard.  I am the seventh and eighth grade Choir Director and currently the room is overflowing!   On April the 7th and 8th grade choir will be participating in KMEA Large Group Assessment in Owensboro, KY.  I will be looking for parents to help chaperone this trip.  If you are available on that date please contact the office for the forms needed to become a chaperone.

I am also the MNHHS Drama Club Director.  The MNHHS and the HCCHS Drama Department have joined forces as Hopkins County High Schools in order to present on the Glema Mahr PAC stage:
