Matt Beshear has been selected principal of Hanson Elementary School.
He has served as a district itinerant assistant principal for the past year. He previously taught health and physical education at Madisonville North Hopkins High School, where he was also head boys basketball coach. He started his education career in 2004 as a PE teacher at Hanson Elementary.
“I would like to thank the Hanson SBDM Council and Superintendent Amy Smith for giving me the opportunity to lead Hanson Elementary,” Beshear said. “I'm extremely excited to get started and look forward to serving alongside our outstanding faculty and staff. Hanson Elementary is a school that is rich in tradition and academic success. As we move forward, we will continue to strive for excellence and meeting the needs of the whole child to prepare them to be successful individuals.”
Beshear earned a bachelor’s degree in kinesiology and health promotion at University of Kentucky and a master’s degree in school administration from University of the Cumberlands.
His activities in the community include being a youth group volunteer, active member of the Madisonville Chrysalis community, Jump Rope for Heart advocate, Maroons in Motion, Hanson Elementary Bowl for Kids Sake, Breaking Bread, and Alliance for a Healthier Generation.
“Matt Beshear has been an itinerant assistant principal the past year,” said Hopkins County Schools Superintendent Amy Smith. “He has a servant’s heart and gives 110% in everything he does. The relationships he has already built with the students, families, staff, and community will be beneficial as he leads his Hanson Hunter family.”
