Superintendent Search is Underway

14 Applications Received

(April 20, 2021)

Hopkins County Board of Education heard a report from the consultant helping the Board conduct its search for a new superintendent at Monday night's Board meeting.

Owens Saylor from the Kentucky Association of School Administrators shared that the application window has now ended with 14 applications received. Saylor reported that four of the submitted applications come from superintendents currently serving in the role or having previous experience as a district superintendent. All other applicants presented to the screening committee are legally certified and eligible to serve in the position if selected.

"Although I was confident that this district would draw great interest from excellent candidates, I believe the roster of those who have stepped forward will create what might be considered a great problem to have,” Saylor said. “It's going to be a tough decision."

On May 6, the Board will meet to consider a list of recommended finalists coming from the screening committee.

Superintendent Search Begins

(March 16, 2021)
The window for applicants to become the next superintendent of Hopkins County Schools is open and will remain so until noon on April 19. At its March 15 meeting, the Board of Education established a working timeline that includes dates for establishing the screening committee, potential dates for interviews, and a flexible target to complete the process and name the new leader by the middle of May.

Owens Saylor, search consultant from the Kentucky Association of School Administrators, said, "Hopkins County Schools is an outstanding district and will draw quality candidates for the screening committee to review. I'm confident that the next superintendent will carry on the outstanding leadership present in this district for many years."

Formation of the screening committee, consisting of 1 board member, 2 teachers, 1 classified employee, 1 principal, and 1 parent, is underway with screening work beginning in April. The Board looks to hold finalist interviews in May.
